I openly admit that I am not the most creative person in the world. However, I think I managed to pull off a pretty cool idea for my hubby yesterday. Alan mentioned in passing a few weeks ago that he is going to start running again and that he thought it would be cool to have a little ipod to listen to workout music to while running. It wasn't a hint or a wishlist. Just a statement. But I picked up on it, and thought that it would be a nice surprise gift. (And, see, I do listen, Alan!). But I didn't want to just hand it to him. I think the best part in gift giving is, well, giving it; and the longer you can drag it out and the more fun you can make it the better.
So, I made Alan go on a treasure hunt. This is the map I made before I marked the trail on it. I marked the trail on it later, cut it up into different pieces, wrote a clue on the back of each piece, and hid each piece in a corresponding location that was picture on the piece. Yes, I know my couches look funny. I am not an artist.
I then made a treasure chest, which you'll see later, and hid said treasure chest in an ice chest full of dirt (I am not looking forward to cleaning that out by the way). After all, it's a pirate's treasure. Everyone should have to dig in a little dirt. So, when Alan came home this is what he found taped to the door. I'll post some of the clues as well.

As you can tell, we had a lot of fun doing this!
Oh, and here's a five second clip from the hunt. It's my favorite part. :)
