Petit Jean and Cooking
Recently, I've been working a lot lately. However, I did manage to squeeze in some fun during the month of January. Alan and I managed to make a day trip to Petit Jean State Park. We hiked the Cedar Falls trail, and, of course, we took tons of pictures. Here's just a few of my favorites (there are more on facebook).
Gotta love that facial expression.

Alan and I attempted to take a picture of ourselves. This was the best we got from our efforts.
It was such a beautiful day. It was fairly cold (in the 40s) and the air was crisp - perfect for hiking! Alan and I have decided that we need to go back there and camp for a few days in the spring so we can check out all the other trails they have there. We're really trying to spend our long weekends off from work doing things around Arkansas, since we'll most likely be moving away from here later this year.
I, like several other people, am hopelessly addicted to pinterest. However, I never do any of things that I pin. Therefore, I decided it was time to change that fact and I actually made a couple of the recipes that I have pinned on pinterest.
First was the homemade pizza dough (Alan made his own recipe for the sauce).
Next, Sarah and I made some desserts. Hers was much better tasting than mine. I made peanut butter chocolate bars, and she made oreo-stuffed chocolate chip cookies. I didn't snag any pictures of those before they were all gobbled up. However, lets just say that those oreo delights, as I'm going to call them, are dangerous for my waist line.
Also, this past month Sarah has become addicted to zumba, so we bought the zumba game for wii. I like it, but I must admit that the just dance games are way more fun. Right now, Alan and are attempting to workout with a Jillian Michaels ab video. Sarah joined us the first time around. We could only finish half the workout before we collapsed on the floor, drenched in sweat and no longer able to move. I don't know about Alan, but Sarah and I couldn't walk without limping for two full days afterwards. Maybe by the end of this month, we'll be able to finish the whole video. That's our goal.
